Polka Mass
On January 22, at our 10:30 a.m. worship, the Heidelberg Brass Band, led by Pastor Glenn Beard, accompanied the singing of our service texts to the tunes of polka music. The first time the Heidelberg Brass Band put together and played this setting was at Trinity Lutheran Church, New Holland on Sunday May 17, 2015 in celebration Pastor Beard’s 25th ordination anniversary. Since then they have performed the polka mass in more than 15 congregations/locations throughout Central Pennsylvania. It is fitting that they return to Trinity Lutheran Church in New Holland, 221 E. Main Street, where it all began!
Martin Luther wanted to bring the gospel to the people. As we approach the 500th anniversary of the Reformation, the Polka Mass is one of four special services from January to October that will lead us in the celebration of the Reformation with unique morning worship.
The community was invited to attend worship as we clapped our hands and stomped our feet in praise and worship, to the glory of God.
